Ellwood City School District makes plans for $3 6 million from stimulus

Ellwood City Ledger ELLWOOD CITY – School district leaders have an answer to the age-old question, What would you do if you had a million dollars? Or, more accurately, an answer to the lesser-known question, What would you do with an extra $3.6 million? According to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Ellwood City Area School District is set to receive $3,662,014 in Elementary and Secondary School Relief (ESSER) grants from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARP), the $1.9 trillion stimulus package signed into law by President Joe Biden in March. Though definite decisions haven t been made on spending yet, district officials are planning to use the money to close the learning gaps created by COVID-19, provide additional educational and emotional support for students and tackle some larger instructional initiatives.
