Another round of atmospheric river storms that struck the county in late January and early February prompted the County Administrative Officer to declare yet another local emergency Feb. 7.
"This review has provided an opportunity to consider how best to conduct the work of county commissions efficiently, to preserve and use human and financial resources more productively and to achieve greater public participation in commission and other work of the county," said Assistant County Administrative Officer Nicole Coburn. "Some of these commissions are going to be transitioning to other methods of public engagement and input."
As a result of a recent comprehensive review, county administrative staff have concluded that the board should sunset six commissions, some of which would transition to another group for public engagement and input. The board will consider the proposed changes at its meeting Tuesday.
