The Lady Flames topped North Florida 65-52 to qualify for their third straight ASUN Championship title game.
The third time was the charm for No. 2 seed Liberty in Friday s ASUN Women s Basketball Championship semifinal meeting with No. 3 seed North Florida at the KSU Convocation Center. The Ospreys topped Liberty twice during the regular season, but Emily Lytle s 24 points led the Lady Flames to a 65-52 victory on Friday, punching their ticket to a third consecutive ASUN title game appearance.
Liberty (19-7) will square off with No. 1 seed FGCU (25-2) in the championship game, Sunday at 2 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center. The Eagles topped No. 4 seed Lipscomb 59-44 in Friday s first semifinal.

Liberty University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams open ASUN Conference play on New Year’s Day and Jan. 2, respectively, at Lipscomb University which the Flames defeated in the past two ASUN Championship games and at home against the Lady Bison.
In the new COVID-19 schedule format, the Flames and Lady Flames will conclude their two-game series the very next day against the same teams at the same locations with the men playing Jan. 2 at Allen Arena in Nashville, Tenn., and the women hosting Lipscomb on Jan. 3 in the sparkling new Liberty Arena, adjacent to the Vines Center.

After vaccinating health workers, long-term care staff and long-term care residents, the next people to get the vaccine in Delaware will be front-line essential workers and residents 65 and older.
Dr. Karyl Rattay, director of the Delaware Division of Public Health, announced the state s decision during Gov. John Carney s weekly coronavirus press briefing on Tuesday.
Front-line essential workers include first responders such as firefighters and police, as well as teachers, U.S. Postal Service workers and grocery store workers. It also includes corrections officers, food and agricultural workers, day care workers and public transit workers.
But these people likely won t start getting the vaccine until mid- to late January due to the limited supply of the vaccine.
Liberty used a stout defensive effort to key a 67-45 victory over Hampton, Wednesday evening at Liberty Arena. The Lady Flames held the Lady Pirates to 21.7 percent field goal shooting, blocked six shots and came up with a season-high 12 steals.
Liberty (2-3) improves to 2-0 at the brand-new Liberty Arena despite a sluggish start which saw the Lady Flames manage only five first-quarter points. Liberty broke the game open by outscoring its in-state foe 46-18 during the middle two periods.
Hampton (0-1) drops its season opener despite a strong performance by Preseason All-Big South forward Nylah Young (15 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals). The Lady Pirates other 11 players combined to shoot just 9-of-54 from the field.
