Local students from Holy Family School recently gained the opportunity to demonstrate their public speaking skills and take pride in personal accomplishments, Principal Karen Moeder said. On Monday, April 12, the students took part in a speech contest sponsored by Holy Family School.
Cadet Major Emma Snapp, South Brunswick High School s Cougar Battalion Executive Officer, has been named the North Carolina State American Legion JROTC Cadet of the Year.
Cadet Major Snapp was nominated by American Legion Post 543 in St. James. She was selected based on her activities in Americanism, citizenship, youth activities, community involvement, participation in JROTC programs, award and decorations, physical fitness scores, and duty positions held.
She s also an avid softball player, health occupations student and a junior firefighter with Oak Island Fire Department with plans to become a firefighter/paramedic after high school.
