KUALA LUMPUR: The expression of support from the Bar Council shows that the government is right in standing firm against employers and employment agents on the issue of foreign worker recruitment, says Steven Sim.
BUTTERWORTH: Employers can be fined up to RM50,000 under the Employment Act 1955 if they dock their workers’ wages or force them to go on annual leave should they opt to shut down operations following the water supply disruption in Penang from Jan 10 to 14.
IPOH: The government has urged all employers to comply with the Employment Act 1955, especially with regard to the reduction of working hours from 48 hours to 45 hours-a-week.
