The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld South Carolina's congressional map after determining that partisan aspirations rather than racial motives colored the line-drawing process.

A Judge wrote that DeSantis 'drew, proposed, and submitted the Enacted Map with race as a motivating factor.'

A federal court upheld a new congressional redistricting map that was championed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, despite a judge acknowledging that the governor "impermissibly" used race when drawing the map that diluted Black voters in North Florida.

LAFAYETTE – The Vermilion Parish NAACP has sued the City of Abbeville for violating the Fourteenth Amendment's "One-Person, One-Vote" requirement by reusing 2010 electoral districts despite a 19% population deviation. The lawsuit seeks to declare the Enacted Map unconstitutional and to establish a new district plan for the Abbeville City Council.

Attorneys asked appellate judges to rule by Tuesday, and for the high court to hear the case from there.
