Electricity Minister, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has provided reasons why Eskom suspended load shedding this week.

Eskom has announced that, from Tuesday, stage 3 load shedding will be implemented during the evening from 4pm until midnight.

Minister of Electricity, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has deployed technical experts and ex Eskom employees to combat load shedding.

He said that the project would add an extra 274 megawatts (MW) to the grid, and that preparations are underway to release an additional bid window.

Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa announced that technical experts will be stationed at various power stations across the country.

Minister in the Presidency responsible for Electricity Kgosientsho Ramokgopa announced on Friday that technical experts supported by the Resource Mobilisation Fund (RMF) will be stationed at various power stations across the country from Monday, 5 June 2023.

One of the challenges around load shedding, according to Ramokgopa, is the increase in demand when power comes back after load shedding.
