According to the UK Foreign Office, the unauthorized drilling activities in the eastern Mediterranean regime includes sanctions for “discouraging any activity of exploration, production or extraction of hydrocarbons that has not been authorized by Cyprus in its territorial sea or/and in its exclusive economic zone and on its continental shelf.” It added that this includes activities which may jeopardize or hamper the reaching of a delimitation agreement “in cases where the exclusive economic zone or continental shelf has not been delimited in accordance with international law with a state having an opposite coast.”

US to limit use of Chinese power equipment on bases Bloomberg US President Donald Trump’s administration is issuing new prohibitions on the use of Chinese power equipment on military bases, citing the need to protect the facilities from foreign adversaries, two senior US Department of Energy officials familiar with the matter said. Utilities that supply military bases and other critical defense facilities would be barred from using high-voltage transformers and other so-called bulk power equipment from China under an order issued on Thursday by US Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette. The order is effective 30 days from issuance. The order is another step in the Trump administration’s wide-ranging effort to restrict access by Huawei Technologies Co (華為) and other Chinese companies to Western networks and technology.
