There are no two words better able to reduce people in Bray and Greystones to laughter and tears simultaneously than ‘cliff’ and ‘walk’. It’s like being tickled whilst chopping an onion. But as we look ahead to 2024, wondering if the amenity, which was once voted Ireland’s No1 Favourite Local Attraction in the Irish Independent Readers’ Travel Awards, will be amenable at all come spring, it’s just a question of glass half-empty, or glass half-full . . . of tears.

Concerns raised by residents along the Ballyman Road, which connects Bray to Enniskerry, were brought to the attention of the elected members at this month’s meeting of Bray Municipal District by Councillor Melanie Corrigan, following the reopening of the road after months of extensive construction work.

The founder of Bray’s Coastcare volunteer group has expressed his disappointment that the coveted Blue Flag will not be flying on Bray beach this year, as it emerged that despite a record-breaking 159 recipients of a Blue Flag and/or Green Coast award, Bray is yet again not among them.

The notion of a ‘rainbow crossing’ for Bray was raised by Sinn Féin Councillor Dermot Brien, at this month’s meeting of Bray Municipal District, who said he had been approached by constituents to find a location for a permanent rainbow crossing in the area.
