Author Steven Wingate ~ Hard Times for the ND Hospitality Industry

It’s his second novel for the Flyover Fiction Series published by the University of Nebraska Press. The series is dedicated to stories of the Great Plains. Wingate is an associate professor of English at South Dakota State University. ~~~ Charley Johnson of the Fargo-Moorhead Visitors and Convention Bureau joins us to discuss the impact of the pandemic on the hospitality industry, and he also explains his concern about House Bill 1298, which would restrict the participation of transgender students in athletics.

She s written her own collections, including Untrussed and Bluewords Greening. She is a professor of English at South Dakota State University. But now she has edited a collection called South Dakota in Poems. It s a capacious conversation, she says in the book s introduction. It s also a who s who of South Dakota poets, an introduction to noteworthy newcomers, and an invitation to us all to see ourselves and our stories in new ways. South Dakota s poet laureate Christine Stewart-Nuñez joins us now to talk about the anthology.
