NSW health authorities are assessing if parts of the Central Coast and Wollongong should remain locked down, amid growing frustration that communities with no active COVID-19 cases face draconian restrictions.
Labor MPs and crossbenchers met on Thursday evening with NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant and Health Minister Brad Hazzard to seek information on why regions such as Wollongong, the Central Coast and the Blue Mountains were included in the Greater Sydney lockdown when they had no active cases.
Multiple attendees confirmed that Mr Hazzard told the meeting, which was organised by Labor’s health spokesman Ryan Park, that NSW Health was actively reviewing the inclusion of these regions in the lockdown.
