The Montreal Canadiens open their regular season just under two months from now in October. How they progress with Martin St. Louis in his first full season as their head coach along with the vice president of hockey operations Jeff Gorton and general manager (GM) Kent Hughes will be key storylines fans will be paying attention to during the year.

The two brothers suited up together last week for the first time this season.

This year’s draft, which takes place in Montreal, probably won’t see any Badgers taken in Thursday night’s first round, but a couple should hear their names called on Friday.

There are some fantastic players in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft but some even better names, like Jimmy Snuggerud, Jagger Firkus, and Michael Mastrodomenico.

The Lightning and Rangers and the Kings and Golden Knights will open the NHL season on Oct. 11. The champion Avalanche will raise their banner the next day against the Blackhawks.

You may remember that I wrote a week or two ago about how it was time for the Pistons to start winning. Well, the same exact thing applies to the Detroit Red Wings now. Playtime is over for them, too. Especially with the NHL Entry Draft (this week) and free agency (next week) coming up.

The 2022 Upper Deck NHL Draft will be held July 7-8 at Bell Centre in Montreal. The first round will be July 7 (7 p.m. ET; ESPN, ESPN+, SN, TVAS) and rounds 2-7 are July 8 (11 a.m. ET; NHLN, ESPN+, SN, TVAS).
