UN publishes update on cement sector mercury emissions reduction

A UN report proposes using giant mirrors to reflect sunlight into space to reduce global warming. (Photo : Pixabay) The United Nations (UN) has released a paper suggesting that massive mirrors reflecting sunlight into space may be needed to achieve targets for global warming reduction.

Paris, 13 February 2023 – The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) conducted an analysis on the magnitude of methane leaked following the incident on the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines, in the Baltic Sea, last September.

At the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15), 23 countries and organizations, led by Colombia and supported by Germany, launched a partnership to accelerate country-led implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted at the meeting.
