London Bus Workers To Strike – Fighting Against Massive Wage Cuts And Zero Hours Contracts!

Workers Revolutionary Party LONDON bus passengers should give their full support to London bus workers as they prepare for massive strike actions in the capital called by the Unite trade union. The first wave of strike action, which starts on Monday, involves bus drivers employed by the French-owned company RATP, which operates three subsidiaries in the London bus network: London United, London Sovereign and Quality Line. Some 2,000 bus drivers are involved in the dispute. Workers at London United, which provides bus services in South and West London will take strike action on Monday 22 February, Tuesday 23 February and Wednesday 24 February. RATP is using the Covid-19 pandemic to attack the terms and conditions of the drivers at the London United subsidiary. Due to the proposed contracts drivers face wage cuts of £2,500 which will reduce wages to 2015 levels, additionally, due to attacks on conditions, drivers will be expected to be at work for far longer.

Communications Week International founder Denis Gilhooly, who became digital health visionary, dies aged 60 Denis Gilhooly, who founded Communications Week International aged 24 and went on to become a pioneer in the subject of global digital health, has died at 60. Gilhooly was publishing director and founding editor of Communications Week International but looked so young for his age his photo had to be removed since its inclusion made the publication lack credibility. He was however a visionary, being among the first to understand how digital health could provide early detection of epidemics, and through enhanced non-communicable disease prevention and control, to save lives and suffering. Gilhooly saw that digital health is critical to pandemic detection through its unique and inherent ability to keep pace with the nature of the pandemic.

Residents share their Hermes horror stories | Basingstoke Gazette

As previously reported by  The Gazette, residents have spoken out about their experiences with delivery company Hermes, after their parcels had reportedly gone missing. At least three said the delivery company had sent them a notification to say their parcel had been delivered to an outbuilding only for it to never arrive. Hermes has been contacted for comment.  Yesterday it was also revealed that police officers are investigating six parcel thefts in the Rooksdown area from the past week alone. Today people from all over the borough have reached out to share their Christmas delivery ordeals. Almost 200 people contacted The Gazette over the last 24-hour-period to explain the issues they have had with Hermes.
