After graduating in 2015, Rachael Watiri was eager to join the nursing profession. But she had to wait a while to get placement. In the meantime, she decided to start an online apparels store. In one of her trips to China to source some stock for the shop, a client who ran a clinic back home asked her to identify for him a place in China where he could source medical equipment. She did, and as she toured the facility and placed the medical equipment order for him, a business idea was sparked. Today, she owns MeD-RAC Medical Equipment Supplies, which equips local hospitals and clinics in the region.
going on. but i m really surprised to see that. but the message said if you are a health care worker and able to volunteer, we need you and it gave an 800 local number to call. and this is really indicative of the overall extraordinary crisis that the city is facing. it s a crisis of supplies and equipment and of course personal protective equipment. it s a crisis of the actual rooms and icu bed space et cetera and ventilators. but it s also a crisis of personnel. my son is an er doctor in new york. and three days ago, a nurse colleague who he worked side by side with died of covid. and i think we re seeing more and more doctors of all ages getting sick, having to leave work or even worse being admitted to the hospital in critical condition. so i think we re really looking down the barrel of a very serious crisis at all levels, personnel, equipment supplies and beds. and just a word if i can about the strategic national stockpile. the information that was put out
