we talked about mccarthy. and i was taken along to a lot of civic situations and public situations where the issue of freedom of speech and the first amendment were--were predominant and very much talked about in my home. so i was raised in that environment. and that instilled in you a social conscience where you felt you could make a difference? well, i think my father really felt that one person could make a difference. he was an amazing man. i always spend a moment to talk about him...
