Judges Derek Cleary and Eric Colon scored the bout 48-47 in favor of Du Plessis, while Sal D’Amato had it 48-47 for Strickland.

TORONTO - Middleweight champion Sean Strickland and challenger Dricus (Stillknocks) Du Plessis had promised their UFC 297 showdown would be a war.

It was a war of attrition with Strickland, an elite technical striker, scoring with a piston-like jab and, initially, evading Du Plessis power and dealing with the challengers awkward herky-jerky style.
