SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Syracuse quarterback Tommy DeVito announced Sunday night on social media that he’s entering the transfer portal. In a post on Twitter, the redshirt junior wrote that he was grateful to the university and all the teammates he played with.

Tommy DeVito immediately faced competition for the starting job when Garrett Shrader announced his decision to transfer to SU last December.

SU’s offensive line struggled with injuries and overall consistency during DeVito’s years as a starter, and ranked near the bottom of FBS teams last year.

SU spent weeks trying to figure out the proper balance between running and throwing the ball. Then it abandoned that and the offense wasn’t as successful.

Syracuse fell to No. 19 Wake Forest 40-37 in overtime despite a strong rushing attack featuring Garrett Shrader and Sean Tucker.

Will the house of horrors continue?

Tucker is the first player on the watch list for the award since Eric Dungey in 2018.

Tommy DeVito spoke on ESPN Syracuse’s radio show on Thursday about losing the starting quarterback job to Garrett Shrader.

Fans and the coaching staff seem torn.

The Bengals’ defense continues to show promise.
