WASHINGTON (CNS) -- A U.S. court of appeals temporarily stayed the recent injunction on the Texas abortion law while it reviews the states request to reinstate the ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

The Supreme Court of the United States is hearing oral arguments Tuesday in a case about whether Kentucky's Republican attorney general should be permitted to enforce an abortion law that has already been found unconstitutional by a federal court.

After the state’s political landscape shifted in 2019, the Democratic governor and the Republican attorney general disagreed on defending the law.

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. Supreme Court justices signaled they are inclined to let Kentucky’s Republican attorney general take over the defense of a law that would sharply restrict abortion after the 15th week of pregnancy.

While the law was blocked Oct. 6, a new ruling Oct. 8 lifted that injunction while the appeals court reviews the states request to reinstate the ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. Similar bans are at issue in Kentucky and Mississippi.
