The hiring is part of a three-pronged approach to mitigate traffic issues that have been more pronounced since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The repairs cannot be done until the ground thaws and the hot-mix asphalt plants open in late April or early May.

"Weve found that if you build a street thats really easy to speed on, the speeds will be higher," city traffic engineer Eric Lom said.
