Marion County, Kansas, has said it will return evidence seized in a controversial police raid of a local newspaper after an attorney review.

The paper’s publisher said he believes Friday’s raid was prompted by a story published Wednesday about a local business owner.

Joel Ensey, the Marion County attorney, said in a statement that, in light of the insufficient evidence, he directed local law enforcement to return the seized material.
