The union is planning a news conference during a strike picket at the downtown HSR terminal

Members of ATU Local 107 begin picketing outside the HSR Mountain transit center on Upper James after they failed to reach a deal with city negotiators earlier this week.

Without a new contract, bus drivers will hit the picket line early Thursday morning.

Hamilton residents are being advised to arrange alternative travel arrangements tomorrow as transit workers prepare to strike.

Talks between the union and city resumed Tuesday morning to hammer out a resolution to avoid a transit strike as well as protocol if a collective agreement is not reached.

The union representing Hamilton transit workers says employees are planning to walk off the job on Thursday after members rejected the latest contract offer.

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 107 says their members will be in a legal strike of the HSR transit system midweek, and plan to walk out November 9th from 12:01 am.

Unionized bus drivers are vowing to hit the picket lines Nov. 9. If they do, it would mark the first city transit strike since before amalgamation.
