A 29-year-old man faces eight charges in connection to a September 2023 fatal shooting on Grand Rapids' east side.

A student is cooperating with police after one of their classmates was shot outside of Alger Middle School Tuesday, according to Grand Rapids Public Schools.

Two Alger Middle School students were in a park outside of the school when one of them was shot. The other student involved is cooperating with Grand Rapids police.

A suspect involved in a shooting earlier this month on Grand Rapids’ northeast side has been charged with assault with intent to murder.

29-year-old Edwin Junior Meyer has been charged with assault with intent to murder and additional firearm charges.
