Havre Daily News staff Montana State University-Northern held two sets of graduation ceremonies Saturdays, using COVID-19-compliant ceremonies to honor candidates whose ceremonies were delayed by the pandemic last year. The ceremonies were for graduates as far back as 2019 who would have been honored in the 2020 ceremonies.

Candidates for graduation walk Saturday toward Montana State University-Northern s commencement ceremonies in the Armory Gymnasium. The commencement ceremonies were not open to the public, but each graduate was allowed to bring a maximum of five guests, including children, to allow for social distancing.
Northern hosting two commencement ceremonies on May 1
Press release Montana State University-Northern has announced that the 2019, 2020 and 2021 commencement ceremonies will be Saturday in the Armory Gymnasium. Northern was unable to hold a ceremony in 2020 due to the pandemic, this ceremony is a combination of students from 2019, 2020 and 2021. In order to reduce the number of people in the Armory Gymnasium, MSU-Northern will be holding two commencement ceremonies. All those in attendance will be required to wear a mask. The two ceremonies are not open to the public. Each person graduating will be allowed five guests including children. Northern will simulcast both commencement ceremonies for people unable to attend. Suicide awareness walk focuses on need for change in attitudes

Montana State University s Sweetgrass Society, in collaboration with the Little River Institute and Northern s Healthy Lifestyle Advocates, hosted a suicide awareness walk Wednesday with nearly 100 people in attendance. The event featured a pair of speakers from the Fort Belknap Indian Community who talked about their experiences with suicide and how it affected their lives and communities. The first was Sweetgrass Society President Aryn Longknife-Jake, who talked about the people she s seen take their own lives in her community at Fort Belknap, as well as her own mental health struggles..
