Waterville officer ‘acted within policy’ in fatal shooting of armed man, review finds
The Waterville city review of the Feb. 11 shooting on upper Main Street also recommends that the police department look into buying body cameras for its officers.

WATERVILLE A city review has found an officer “acted within policy” when he fatally shot a Hartland man in February, while also recommending that the police department consider purchasing body cameras for future use.
Waterville Police Chief Joseph Massey released the department’s incident review team report Friday evening, saying there would be no further comment by police about the report until the Attorney General’s Office has completed its investigation of the fatal shooting.

A Maine police officer “acted within policy” when he fatally shot a knife-wielding man in February, according to an internal review.
Waterville Officer Paul Heath shot and killed Eric J. Porter, 32, of Hartland, who reportedly charged at a police cruiser with a knife on Feb. 11, according to the department’s incident review team report released Friday, the Morning Sentinel reported.
