An Akron man was indicted by the Washington County Grand Jury this week on charges of aggravated possession of drugs and tampering with evidence.
Javon L. Wilson, 30, of 215 E. Spring Court, was arrested after a traffic stop Oct. 7 on Interstate 77 near milepost 13 in Aurelius Township.
Washington County Assistant Prosecutor James Schneider said Wilson was following another vehicle too close, went to pass them without using a turn signal, and then drove back in front of the other vehicle, causing them to hit their brakes.
He was pulled over and law enforcement learned there was a warrant from Summit County for domestic violence.
¯ First-degree felony : Three to 11 years; $20,000.
¯ Second-degree felony: Two to eight years; $15,000.
¯ Third-degree felony: One to three years; $10,000.
¯ Third-degree felony involving an act of sex or violence: One to five years; $10,000.

Gross sexual imposition and felonious assault were just two of the offenses brought before the Washington County Grand Jury this week.
Jason Dean Lanning, 37, of 105 Melody Lane, Marietta, was indicted on two counts of felonious assault, both second-degree felonies, after he allegedly pistol whipped a man and tried to run him over with a vehicle.
According to Marietta Police reports, units were dispatched Nov. 18 to 840 Pike St., Sierra Apartments, in reference to an assault. Contact was made with the victims and other witnesses. Through the investigation, it was found that Lanning had arrived at the apartment parking lot and got into a verbal argument that escalated into a gun being pulled and the victim being pistol whipped by Lanning.

¯ The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a request to complete a welfare check Dec. 30 on two dogs at 300 Summers Road, Marietta. It was reported that the dog owner left on vacation, leaving the animals with no one to care for them.
A search warrant at the home revealed two small breed dogs inside a small room in the residence. There were water and food containers in the room but the water containers were empty and dry. There were feces and urine all over the floor in this room and the odor was foul, and detected throughout the home.
