0 mr. latourette, thank you for joining us. ted cruz this week showed once again why some of his biggest critics are his fellow republicans in washington. after forcing republican senators to vote on whether or not to avoid defaulting on the national debt, he explained on a right-wing radio show that they just wanted, well, he did, a show vote. let s listen. in the 13 months i ve been in the senate, it has become apparent to me the single thing that republican politicians hate and fear the most, and that is when they re forced to tell the truth. it makes their heads explode. an awful lot of the republicans wanted exactly what barack obama wanted, exactly what nancy pelosi wanted, exactly what harry reid wanted, which is to raise the debt ceiling, but they wanted to be able to tell what they view as their foolish, gullible constituents back home they didn t do it. many latourette, you remember their side who aren t as pure, who are competing with the same base for votes and support.
still believes that people will be better off under obamacare, but that s a pretty stunning admission from one of the speech writers, former speech writers. juan williams joins me now, and monica crowley, radio talk show host and fox news contributor. monica, what do you think about that? please, martha, spare me the we didn t know it was going to turn out this way nonsense. of course they knew it was going to turn out this way, they designed it to turn out this way. what we do know is before the president signed obamacare into law, he was caught on tape admitting to the house majority leader, erik cantor, that, in fact, it was possible that millions of people were going to lose their plans. we also know, it s since been reported, that the policy people in the white house and the political people in the white house got into an argument about sending the president out with that very declarative statement, if you like your plan and your doctor, you ll be able to keep them. they knew it
0 and you slept on the bus. what did you eat? we didn t eat. around 11:00 a.m. this morning the national guard came to get us and took us to kroger. martha: they have got a story they will tell their grand kid. the night they slept on the business. americans come together aid of those in need. a chick-fil-a handed out hundreds of free chicken sandwiches to the stranded drives. store workers refused to take any money from anybody. chick-fil-a you have ad a spot for people to sleep on a bench or in a booth. bill: the blame game well underway in atlanta. america i am reid, and the governor, they are under fire. here is the governor responding to those allegation the small gains we have had the last few years. this is unfortunately where we are going to be. north of $300,000. martha: some of the study show when the unemployment runs out, people get jobs. they find work. it s true. study after study said that. what you have a lot that s gone on in america the last several years is fai
namely, there was no change in your plan in the last three and a half years. anybody who renews as i do every year, you often have a change here and there. so, deliberately, they wrote into the law a clause that would make it difficult for anybody to be included among the few who would be allowed to keep the plan. so, then he says we tried to increase the number or maximize it, it is precisely untrue, again. i can t believe he s adding on to the untruths. chuck, it s not like the white house didn t know this was going to happen. this is some tape from february, 2010, when there was a health care summit, you may remember, where the president met with lawmakers from both sides of the ail. this is an exchange between erik cantor and president obama on this issue, the independent insurance market. one of the promises you want to make is that people ought to
people like eric cantor were say thg is what s going to happen. we didn t have enough to have that from the left and the mainstream media decided to disregard that and here we are. one other thing i think he said that shouldn t be missed in this interview with chuck todatodd, president said he was open to legislative fixes. that s a dramatic shift. the question chuck asked is are you open to fixes? he said i m open to looking at ways to fix it. that s an incredible shift. the president was saying he s not open to it and anyone that suggested as as much were one wise and un-american. now the president, himself, is embracing it as a possibility. i wouldn t say embracing it. what they are talking about now is the problem is, it can t be fixed.
