Asmara, 08 March 2021- International Women’s Day, 8 March has been enthusiastically celebrated inside the country and abroad under the theme “Eritrean Woman: Pillar of Resistance and Development”.
At the celebration event held in Khartoum, The Sudan, the Charge d’Affairs at the Eritrean Embassy, Mr. Ibrahim Idris said that the Eritrean women have played a significant role in realizing national independence and safeguarding the national sovereignty and that they have been practically able to realize their equality.
Ms. Eden Taddese, Chairperson of the National Union of Eritrean Women branch in Khartoum and its environs on her part gave an extensive briefing on the effort being conducted to develop the capacity of women and transfer the noble values of the Eritrean women to the young generation.

Asmara, 04 March 2021- Ambassador Fesehatsion Petros, Eritrean Ambassador in Italy, conducted seminar to Eritrean nationals in Germany.
At the seminar, Ambassador Fesehatsion gave an extensive briefing on the objective situation of the pandemic in Eritrea and at the global level as well as the burden it is posing. Ambassador Fesehatsion also called on the nationals to strengthen their contribution in the fight to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ambassador Fesehatsion went on to say that as a result of the strong guidelines issued by the Government of Eritrea to control the pandemic and participation of nationals in implementing the guidelines encouraging the result is being registered.

Asmara, 10 February 2021 – Eritrean community festival in Australia was conducted enthusiastically respecting the objective situation of the COVID-19 disease and guidelines issued to control the pandemic.
The national festival that was attended by nationals from all ages featured various activities including speeches on the objective situation in the homeland and the region, the impact of the COVID-19 disease, and the measures being taken by the Government and people of Eritrea to combat the spread of the pandemic, as well as cultural performances and sports events.
In a speech delivered, Mr. Tekeste Mehari, General Consul at the Eritrean Embassy in Australia and New Zealand stating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the world in 2020, commended nationals inside and outside Eritrea for their strong participation in the fight against the pandemic and said that nationals in Australia contributed over 200 thousand USD toward augmenting the National Fund.

Meskerem, the 9th month, began with Eritreans around the world observing the 59th anniversary of the beginning of Eritrea’s armed struggle for independence. In Asmara, events at Cinema Roma included cultural programs, musical performances, drama programs, and poetry reading highlighting the unity and resilience of the Eritrean people.

The month began with International Workers’ Day (1 May) commemorated in Asmara. Events saw 40 members of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers (NCEW) donate blood at the National Blood Transfusion Center. Additionally, Tekeste Baire, Secretary General of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers, released a statement that, inter alia, declared the NCEW would continue to extend financial and material support to the national efforts to contain the virus.
