COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — A man armed with a bow fired arrows at shoppers in a small Norwegian town Wednesday, killing five people before he was arrested, authorities said. The police chief in the community of Kongsberg, near the capital of Oslo, said there was “a confrontation” between officers and the assailant, but he did not elaborate.

The suspect attacked people at several locations before he was arrested, according to a police spokesperson.

The attacks took place over a large area of Kongsberg, a municipality of around 28,000 people in southeastern Norway

Police in Norway say they have charged a man after five people were shot dead and two others - including an off-duty police officer - were injured in a series of bow and arrow attacks.
