The decision follows an incident where Eskom employees were allegedly prevented from removing an illegally installed transformer by some members of the community on Sunday.
“The safety of Eskom employees remains a major concern at this stage, and the matter has been reported to the police for further investigation,” adds Mokwena.
Last week, Eskom withdrew its services from Orlando East, Soweto where its employees were also violently attacked and property damaged as they were operating in the area.
