New Delhi: The swearing-in ceremony of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will take place on May 5, i.e. on Wednesday. A day later, on May 6, all council of ministers will be sworn in by Protem speaker Subrata Mukherjee. Later, Biman Banerjee will hold the post of the Speaker.
Mamata Banerjee said that she would meet Bengal Governor Jagdish Dhankar at 7 pm on Monday and her party would take a call on the oath-taking and Cabinet formation in the evening. A day after the vote counting, the Bengal Chief Minister addressed a press meeting where she demanded a forensic examination into the Nandigram vote counting incident. Accusing the Election Commission of working at the behest of BJP, Mamata questioned that why did the poll panel not give permission for a recounting of votes in Nandigram.
The Trinamool Congress was currently leading in 168 seats, while the BJP was leading in 101 seats at 11. 25 AM. However, for the most part of early trends, both parties were neck and neck as the latest leads continue to come in.
The seventh-term MP also has been among the first key figures who heavily criticised the central government in issues starting from demonetisation to Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and lockdown to fuel prices. Her fighting spirit and mass appeal have made her one the tallest opposition figures in the current political arena.

As per the initial trends, Mamata Banerjee s party TMC has taken an early lead and the ruling party is ahead of the BJP in Bengal. BJP s Suvendu Adhikari is leading in the Nandigram seat with over 1500 votes against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as of now. Meanwhile, the BJP has maintained a comfortable lead over Congress in Assam as of now. The saffron party is leading on 40 seats, while Congress on 22 seats in Assam, while others in 4. The Centre will continue to extend all possible support to the West Bengal Government to fulfil people’s aspirations and also to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister tweeted on Sunday evening.
Congress former president Rahul Gandhi too congratulated Mamata Banerjee on Bengal election win and wrote on Twitter, I’m happy to congratulate Mamata ji and the people of West Bengal for soundly defeating the BJP.
