Is this. marco rubio, you called him an establishment candidate. bush, kasich, establishment candidates. four of them bunched between 9 and 14%. if you add you will of those up together, you get 44%. that would be more than enough to beat donald trump but the problem is, no one has emerged from that pack. until and unless one of them succeeds in doing that, donald trump is going to continue to lead in new hampshire. >> steve kornacki breaking it down for us on a monday morning. thanks, as always...

Momentum. let me ask this. if he wins in iowa or new hampshire and heads south, its very difficult then, but dont you start seeing a lot of the other candidates fall off and you end up with a narrower race? couldnt he get clipped if becomes a three or four-person race? >> yes, if you have a cruz/trump/kasich race or cruz, trump, rubio, the so-called establishment candidate is going to get a lot of votes, but you have these winner-take-all primaries early in the republican process, so if trump is...

Historically there have been three tickets out of iowa, if cruz seems to be on a path to win and trump is in some ways trying to figure out where he falls, that leaves room for an establishment candidate. you remember mitt romney on caucus night was declared the winner in iowa. there are a chunk of what -- i would not say moderate voters, but people looking for a centrist consensus republican candidate. its not as though every republican voter in iowa is an evangelical. so thats kind of where th...

Thats one of the questions well be asking him. can he turn these big rallies into caucus goers and take iowa? >> a question among many. from iowa, thank you very much. want to bring in msnbc host and political correspondent steve kornacki. of course, we are seeing trump versus clintons. also seeing more attacks within the ranks of the gop and the contenders there, especially when it comes to marco rubio and jeb bush and superpac adds there. tell us a little bit more about that. >> all the attent...

With no clear political philosophy and no deeper understanding of the important and serious role of president of the united states than one of the goons he lets rough up protesters in his crowd. so yeah, some tough words here, but not all together unsurprising. remember, this is a newspaper that endorsed the more establishment candidate, chris christie, in new hampshire last month. that gave christie a little bit of a boost in new hampshire. so it wouldnt come as any sort of shock to donald trum...

New hampshire. you have those so-called establishment candidate, whether its jeb bush or chris christie being championed by the union leader or marco rubio picking up endorsements. right now they are all getting 10%, 12% each. they are all basically tied far back. the main beneficiary of that is donald trump. >> certainly we will see with the clock ticking. five weeks left before iowa, then trey gowdy campaigning with marco rubio expected tomorrow. a lot to watch. steve and robert, to both of yo...

Watched with bated breath. >> what is so weird about marcos nativest attack is it goes for everything he stood against in politics. america is a land of opportunity. but here in the age of trump, instead of being marco, hes trying to channel trump. >> well, heres the problem for him. hes probably not going to win in either state. iowa or new hampshire. then what happens to him? christie will end up as the establishment candidate. cruz is going to probably win iowa, i would guess because he has t...

Something to back somebody else, if he got out on the campaign trail in new hampshire it could make a real difference. >> lets bring in kelly odonnell who has covered senator lindsey graham on the campaign trail as well as on capitol hill. she joins us from hawaii. kelly, how much of an impact going forward will lindsey grahams endorsement of a candidate have? how could that affect any of the kind of commentary were hearing in terms of an establishment candidate? is it even a significant endorse...
