it happen with this wide of margin? the next guest says it s a establishment party. republican establishment problem. a democrat who said his party did everything wrong in 2016 in many cases. chairman of the harris poll and former hillary clinton campaign strategist mark perron. mark, what should a republican take from governor gillespie loss of not governor gillespie but ed gillespie s loss is he not governor? karl rove came out and said listen, ed got more votes than the other republican candidate for when he was running for governor. he just more people came out. oh, i think when you look at the exited polls, the view here is far from simple. number one, i think the republican party and the establishment itself is 5 points lower than trump. right there that explains a lot of the problems i think that gillespie got into. and, of course, democrats had a moderate candidate. an army veteran. remember, mcauliff did a pretty good job.

know. steve bannon, ousted strategist, working from the outside to challenge, and primary key lawmakers, challenge leadership, and president trump wants to be sure bannon is not challenging him beyond the alabama race, roy moore slated to be part of the summit today, sebastian gorka, bannon ally that was part of the foreign policy program. part of president trump s appearance is to show that base that he is not part of the establishment problem, he is still kind of that outsider, not predictable, he is his own person. that s part of a lot of the messaging you re seeing today with his appearance. scott, what do you think. his words when he talked about health care and what he is doing on his own, no thanks to congress in his words, but he said it is going to come down, we re going to have great health care in this country, then he sort of qualified it by saying at least as good as it was,
don t scream and yell when one person says it won t kill the country if we raise taxes a little bit on the millionaires. it won t. i don t understand why republicans don t take obama s offer to raise taxes for everyone below $250,000. make it $1 million. really? the republican party is going to fall on its sword to defend millionaires? half of whom voted democratic and half of whom live in hollywood? chris: let me ask you about this. this is the second reflection a row where it s fair to say the republicans squandered a really good chance to take over the senate. by all mathieu call rights mathematical rights they had ten seats to defend. democrats had 23. they nominated people strong enough to win in primaries but too out of the mainstream to win in general election. does the republican party have a tea party problem? no. it has as much republican establishment problem as tea party problem. establishment nominees were nominated in florida and virginia and north dakota and montan
