Estonia is the latest country to join the UK-led program that started in July 2022 to train Ukrainian soldiers on British soil and help Kyiv deter Russia’s invasion.
As Ukraine grapples with a shortage of ammunition and troops, it is in need of a reset in its battle against the Russian military nearly two years after its invasion began, defence experts say.
“This is the first joint defence procurement between Estonia and Poland, with the advantages of quick delivery and a relatively low cost compared to the value of the destroyed target,” said the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments.
Russian troops have been closing in on Avdiivka, a Ukrainian stronghold, triggering what are believed to be the highest casualty rates of the war so far.
