Vote for your favourite artwork! 79 artists are competing at the international NOBA Award competition

Altogether 79 emerging artists from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland with 154 artworks are taking part in the international art competition NOBA Award. Until 20 November everyone is invited to vote for their favourite at the competition’s website NOBA.ac. The artist with the most votes will be awarded with the Public Choice Award. NOBA Award (previously called Nordic & Baltic Young Artist Award) is a unique international art competition in the region that involves young talents at the beginning of their professional career.

Soviet era ceiling mural in Estonian National Opera sparks controversy

The Estonian National Opera (Rahvusooper Estonia) surprised its visitors at the start of the autumn season with a change to the hall's interior, when the Leninist motto "Art belongs to the people" was without much ado covered up. The ERR's weekly "AK. Nadal" inquired about the condition of the ceiling painting in a nearly 110-year-old cultural heritage building.

Rectors plan to use extra funding to raise lecturer salaries

According to a social media post by Minister of Education and Research Tõnis Lukas, from 2023, funding for higher education will increase by 15 percent annually. However, university rectors say, that, in the current economic climate, it is difficult to know what the actual impact of these additional funds may be for higher education.
