The Eudora school district has found its next leader.
The school district announced Tuesday that it has selected Stu Moeckel as the district’s new superintendent. Moeckel will take over the position on July 1 and will replace outgoing Superintendent Steve Splichal.
Splichal previously announced that he planned to resign at the end of the school year.
Moeckel, who is currently serving as the superintendent and high school principal for the Madison-Virgil school district in Greenwood County, was one of three candidates considered for the position, the Journal-World previously reported.
“Mr. Moeckel emerged from a very thorough search process as the right candidate to lead Eudora Schools,” Eudora school board President Mark Chrislip said in a news release. “The Board is certain in our choice of Mr. Moeckel, and is confident that under his leadership, Eudora USD 491 (will) continue to be recognized as a top-quality school district.”
