, we have not heard any official motivations, what is the issue, well, apparently, it was an energy issue, when the ministry of infrastructure told everyone that we have all Energy Facilities protected, and then found out , that they are unprotected, and then found out that it was not their parish and so on, well, theoretically, this could be so, one of the reasons why he was dismissed, i. E. No yes, you do not see such a huge scandal here, mr. Taras, a scandal like, no, you dont, i dont see it either , im just clarifying for you, maybe i dont see what you see, and youre not what i see, well , it happens already, no, well, if, if they have , well, if he performed a function that corresponded to the vision of the president fulltime for a certain time, and then he does not see a function in him, well here he decides, it is his fate. Actually responsibility, because we have a monocollision in the parliament, which is also responsible for this, so here he can actually shuffle the deck, as
Guest thats how its being referred to now in copyright circles. It is really, its become a ridiculous, absurd system. Service providers spend a lot of money on dealing with these notices and from the author perspective dont actually achieve getting anything taken down. So we are asking for a number of change to that part of the statute. Were also looking at collective licenses for books so that libraries can access copies of books and actually pay for them instead of having libraries and the googles saying, oh, we cant possibly license all these books, so it has to be fair use. That takes away a lot of income, ultimately, out of the market and from authors. So those are the big ones, but there are a bunch of issues. Host when you look at where we are in publishing in 2016, has there ever been another period in history where this revolution is happening like it is now . Well, when the yeah. I mean, when the beginning of publishing. It was a huge change in terms of the written word. It w
Said what if nobody comes so its nice of you all to come out. I know that some of you are here to talk about the book but the reality is we are fortunate to have with us two friends of mine, it will be more interesting and probably more fascinating to many of you, Jacob Weisberg who many of you may know as the chairman of the slate group, longtime journalist recently published a book on Ronald Reagan that i cant recommend highly enough, particularly in todays political environment and malcolm gladwell, a writer for the new yorker and a very insightful nonfiction bestseller so we talk a little bit tonight about my new book, the seven cents and one of the things that were going to get him very quickly is one of the big ideas in the seven cents is the idea that theres so many questions to answer that this model of us talking to you is not entirely the light model so we will do that but we also want to open it up for questions and debate and i hope people will talk about the guys that are
Mike rogers said we havent seen the terrorist attack that we havent talked about it for 15 years now. Theres lots of reasons for that. But theres a lot of vulnerabilities, and actually have a major impact not in the u. S. But also around the world for not finishing touches for the United States and the private sector is part of that. You know, in dod my job is to worry about the big cyberattack him cyberattack, but i also worry sometimes when they do things that impact the centers of gravity for the u. S. , which is the i. T. Industry in Silicon Valley and cybersecurity we need to think a lot about that. It makes it even harder because you want to make sure you are not hurting the economy and one of the Great Centers of gravity. Okay, thank you so much eric, john and chris. We will have our next panel soon. [applause] thinks anna and thanks to the department of defense, carla and the department of defense birthday. I want to encourage weve had great comments and questions coming off tw
It is unbelievably positive. My biggest gripe is something i know cant be fixed and should not be fixed. We will go right at each other on issues. If somebody is a muslim and somebody else is a christian, they will go right at each other. Hopefully they will listen to each other. You will not do them. Do that. On campuses, i do not think there is enough discussion about gender relationships and gender equity and sexual harassment. I think people avoid having that discussion. I do not think there is enough discussion about race in your generation, but we had all of these discussions in my generation, and the reason i think you do not have those discussions, i think you need to have those discussions, but i think it is secondary to what you really need to do, which is to heal the wounds of my generation. Now, what we did, the civil rights movement, how about that . Every generation has their things they can be really proud of, but we also have things we can do better. I have kids just a
