European recognition should be banned in people’s private lives due to the “deep and non-democratic intrusion” of data in Europe, European Union Privacy told the European Data Protection Observer (EDPS) on Friday.
The comment came two days after the European Commission proposed rules that facial recognition would be used to search for missing children or criminals, and in cases of terrorist attacks.
The draft regulations need to be abolished with the European Union countries and the European Parliament, an attempt by the Commission to establish global rules for artificial intelligence, a technology dominated by China and the United States.
