The U.S. Government seems to be keen on electric vehicles from way before GM built the EV1. Somewhere between 1982 and 1987, it paid $240,000 to have a Dodge B300 prototype powered solely by gel cell batteries. This one-off vehicle is now on Craiglist, waiting for a new owner.

Stopping self-destruction helped the engineer give it a new life with battery modules and an electric motor.

When Swindon Powertrain said it would sell an electric classic Mini for £79,000 under the name Swind E, it may have inspired London Electric Cars to offer a less expensive version. We’ll probably never know that for sure, but the fact is that you can now have an electric classic Mini for £25,000 – with some catches.
