ConVal’s track and field team is building back toward contention after last year’s pandemic-canceled season delayed their development.
“Even our juniors, it’s at best their second season,” said head coach Lance Flamino, “and with so many freshmen, kids are really kind of learning the ropes, and even our returning athletes don’t have a ton of experience.”
ConVal’s star-studded 2019 spring season is long in the rearview now, with only a handful of student-athletes remaining; more than half Flamino’s team are freshmen. Team championships aren’t likely in the cards this year, but the Cougars should be able to make some improvements as they look toward the future while potentially sending some individual athletes to the state championship.
