The Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC) on Wednesday said it is concerned about the suspension of participation of the SPLM/A-IO in the meetings of the security mechanisms of the peace agreement, a press statement said.

The chairperson of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army in Opposition (SPLM/A-IO) and South Sudan's First Vice President Riek Machar on Tuesday said the SPLM/A-IO will no longer attend security mechanisms meetings, saying they were dysfunctional in the implementation of the peace agreement.

The Troika countries (United States, United Kingdom, and Norway) in a joint statement on Wednesday condemned the reported attacks by the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) on Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army-In-Opposition (SPLM/A-IO) positions in Jekau and other towns in Maiwut County, Upper Nile State beginning the weekend of March 19-20.
