There has been an outpouring of grief following the death of an ex-primary school headteacher at the age of 50.

Former head teacher of St Aidan’s CE Primary School in Billinge Mrs Melanie Ravenscroft died at Willowbrook Hospice on Sunday, May 2 aged 50. There has been an outpouring of grief by staff, pupils, families and the wider community of the Billinge school, where she had been for 14 years. Mrs Ravenscroft was head teacher at the school until Christmas 2020 when she took early retirement. Flower tributes have been left at the school following her death by parents and pupil past and present and any donations are to be made to Willowbrook Hospice in her name.
