It took the New Jersey Devils over 47 minutes to score a goal against Charlie Lindgren and the Washington Capitals tonight. They turned a 0-3 game into a 2-3 game shortly thereafter, but it was too little, too late. This recap goes over a thoroughly poor performance by the Devils.

The Devils did a lot of good things in this game, some bad things, and managed to sneak away with a one-goal win

After a rough loss on Wednesday and a check to Captain Nico Hischier’s head, the Devils easily could have lost focus tonight. After Nico returned to the ice, and then had to leave the game again, the Devils only grew more and more relentless.

The Devils played down to the competition tonight, and did not look like the same team from last night.

Better effort, better result.

Jesper Bratt had a big night, and Jack Hughes collected three assists, but overall sloppy play and critical penalties doom Devils against Coyotes

The Devils came out flat, but they recovered and put themselves on the right path to begin the season.
