AZ vax is safe - SUNSTAR

March 17, 2021 THE Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH 7) assured the public and healthcare workers that the AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 is safe and effective. The Health Department’s regional office made the assurance after countries such as Germany, France, Italy and Spain temporarily suspended their use of the AstraZeneca vaccine following reports last week that there were inoculated individuals in Denmark and Norway who developed blood clots even if there was no proof that the blood clots were caused by the vaccine. “DOH 7 still believes in its safety and efficacy. And while we wait for scientific results in the investigation of the causality of the said issues, let’s continue to be vaccinated,” said Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, DOH 7 spokesperson.

(File photo) + March 08, 2021 MEDICAL workers who are senior citizens will be first in line to be injected with the 20,000 doses of the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) allotted for Central Visayas. According to Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, Department of Health (DOH) 7 spokesperson, after the “senior” medical workers are vaccinated, what’s left of the vaccines will be distributed to other age groups. She said they initially expected the AZ vaccine to arrive in Cebu either on Monday, March 8, 2021, or Tuesday, March 9. But they were told there is no fixed date yet on when the vaccine will actually get here, she said.
