Rarotonga’s annual Christmas in the Park has enjoyed its “best turnout” in years with more than 2000 people coming together for an evening of festive cheer. Joanne Holden reports.

School pupils will be bolstering volunteer numbers at Rarotonga’s annual Christmas at the Park this year as the island community comes together to support the more than $7000 event.

Year 13 students from Tereora College, are participating in a five-day work experience programme across several divisions of the Cook Islands Trading Corporation (CITC).

A new Santa in a brand-new outfit will be appearing in the annual Tropical Christmas in Raro programme which aims to bring joy to the faces of the children and light up the island for Christmas.

Rarotonga’s “Clean Up the Cook Islands Day” led by the National Environment Service (NES) collected a total of 357 kilos of waste.
