The Haryana government on Wednesday lowered the legal age for drinking, buying or selling alcohol from the existing 25 years to 21 in the state.

Liquor/any intoxicating drug can be sold to a person aged at least 21 years old by a vendor/employee of such vendor as per Section 29 of the act. 

The Haryana government on Wednesday amended its Excise Act paving the way for lowering of the legal age for consumption of liquor, its purchase or sale from the existing 25 years to 21 in the state. In this regard, the Haryana Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was passed by the State Assembly.

The Haryana government on Wednesday amended its Excise Act paving the way for lowering of the legal age for consumption of liquor, its purchase or sale from the existing 25 years to 21 years in the state.

The Delhi government's excise department, which is in the process of fixing MRP of brands to be registered in Delhi, said in an order that the wholesale prices of all types of liquor are likely to increase by 8-9 per cent.
