i did catch up with somebody a few moments ago and they were watching the returns come in on the gingrich bus. i asked were they elated, were they exciting, doing touchdown dances? the answer is no, they were very humbled by the results down here in south carolina. and anderson, i think what happened here is that conservatives in this state, republicans in the state said they couldn t care less about newt gingrich s personal life. what they did care about was a candidate taking it to the establishment, taking it to the republican establishment, not only around the country but here in social. it was the governor of this state who was on the mitt romney team, not on the newt gingrich team. he was going after the media, which we talked about again and again, and conservatives like that, as well. but it was interesting to listen to newt gingrich s victory speech here tonight, because it wasn t so much about his rival. we heard him go on and on about mitt romney on the campaign t
walker. do you see it as it is all about the benjamins the day after here? i think it is mostly about the benjamins and my perspective is from the outside looking inward, not having been on the ground. i think an additional factor and chuck todd has written and spoken about this is how in the internal exit polling numbers you have 60% who say absent mal fees ans or grois misconduct it is not the proper option, to wait the next go round at the ballot box and vote him or her out at that time. it is interesting as first read point out that democrats went for the kill, that early on with the protests we were watching over many months that the public opinion and the court of public opinion seemed to be on the side of labor and on the side of the state s democrats but when they put the extra step to put the nail in the coffin for governor wauker and his big dollar supporters who wanted to
party helped mr. miller. we re an outside organization that came in, tried to influence an election. they did so in the primary. and we said not again. this is our state. we will make the decisions here. we will elect our senator and alaskans are doing just that. so we don t know the answer yet in alaska. let s move to washington where the senate race there is too close to call right there, too. patty murray, the democrat incumbent going up against dino rossi the 50% to 50% right now. this is a mail-in only voting state. you could have your vote post marked yesterday so they may not know the results for the next week. yeah, 62% counted. about 500,000 votes have not been and about 14,000 votes separate the two. when you talk about tea party, that s true. joe miller was the tea party candidate but when you talk about these exit polling numbers, out of all of it, this strikes me the most. 40% of americans wanted to vote and say they agree or support the tea party movement.
