too. i looked before we came on 2008 exit polling, among people who are very worried about a terrorist attack, john mccain 54-43. barack obama won 51-48. national security and terrorism has been a fading issue for republicans over the last few years. i think if americans are depending solely on national security and terrorism to get them back in the majorities, it s not. that s what the white house, i talked to someone at the white house last night who said if you look at the polling, i think 60 something percent of americans say obama administration is doing the right thing. the one issue where they re losing out is trying khalid shaikh mohammed in new york city and the numbers are just upside down for them. i just want to throw in one thing because their whole, the premise that they tried to sell was it is important for people
that will be a huge motivator for them in the midterms and beyond. immigration very important as we. no it s big on the campaign trail and works well at rallies. an interesting op-ed in the new york times who found immigration tends to be more of a motivator for democrats in terms of getting them to the polls. is that surprising? not only is it surprising i don t believe it. it puts me in a position of saying i disagree with these smart political scientists who ve done a study. it s an interesting phenomenon because the op-ed they have is actually pretty consistent with some of the other things i ve seen. i can tell you going back years now i ve seen exit polling, say, for example exit polling even in republican primaries where they ask republican voters does immigration matter to you, where does it frank? is it a top issue?
