Een 75-jarige man uit Sneek is vrijgesproken van poging tot doodslag op of het bedreigen van een gemeenteambtenaar, door met zijn trekker op de man in te rijden. De rechter vindt niet bewezen dat de bejaarde man het slachtoffer vanuit de cabine heeft kunnen zien.

Meerdere brandweerkorpsen wisten te voorkomen dat de vlammen oversloegen naar het restaurant. Buurtbewoners werden wakker van het geknetter en de rook van het gebouw. Toby s ligt aan de hoofdstraat in het dorp, daardoor hebben veel omwonenden iets van de brand meegekregen. Ook was er veel rookontwikkeling. De Veiligheidsregio had daarom opgeroepen om ramen en deuren gesloten te houden.
Rond 4.15 uur had de brandweer het vuur onder controle. Voor zover bekend is bij de brand niemand gewond geraakt. Hoe de brand is ontstaan is nog niet bekend.

British Olympic team contenders will be in action at the first five-star dressage show of the year in Europe, which kicks off tomorrow at Compiègne, France. It will serve as the final outing for some of Britain’s top combinations ahead of Olympic team selection next month.
As well as elite British riders, several Olympic team and medal contenders from other countries will be among those contesting the CDIO5 Nations Cup leg – the first of three in 2021 (the others are at Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in July and Aachen, Germany, in September) – and the CDI3 competition, which runs alongside.
The CDI3 grand prix will take place on Friday, 28 May, with the special and freestyle the following day, while the Nations Cup competition begins with the grand prix on Saturday and concludes with the special and freestyle on Sunday. Britain are the defending champions of the Compiègne Nations Cup leg, having won it in 2019 with Carl Hester, Richard Davison, Lottie Fry and Gareth Hu

British 2019 European Championship team rider Charlotte Fry has continued her Tokyo campaign with a vengeance by winning the Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle with PB scores on her two rides at Exloo CDI3 in the Netherlands on 5 – 9 May 2021.
In windy conditions at the Hippisch Centrum Exloo, the home nation’s Edward Gal dominated Wednesday’s Grand Prix with Totilas sons Toto Jr. and Total U.S. claiming first (78.82%) and second (77.78%) respectively. The 25-year old young British challenger, however, clearly meant business with a 76.84% PB performance with Everdale to complete the podium and taking fourth with Dark Legend on 75.45%.
