Verizon Wireless customers have been automatically enrolled in a new Verizon Custom Experience program that collects their personal data.

If you are a Verizon customer and use the wireless carriers mobile app, you might want to give your privacy settings a close check.

It appears that Verizon automatically enrolled its users in its Custom Experience program, which collects information about the apps you use, websites you visit, and the phone numbers that you call. You can toggle the feature off from your privacy settings within the My Verizon app.

Verizon has been promoting two programs that it uses to personalize its offerings and recommendations to customers. Still, you might want to opt-out of the Custom Experience programs.

Verizon emailed customers about a new program called “Custom Experience,” which is the company’s excuse to collect all kinds of data on you to help it provide more relevant information. That’s all well and good, but the program is opt-out, which means you’re enrolled by default.
